Frequently Ask Questions

To achieve maximum stability and consistent moisture content throughout our tongue & groove and exterior siding products, we employ a careful kiln-drying process. This step is vital in preserving the integrity of the wood and ensuring it performs beautifully in various applications.

At Mountain Milling Co., we take quality seriously, and it’s at the heart of everything we do. From the moment our Eastern Red Cedar logs arrive at our mill to the final loading onto our clients’ vehicles, we employ a meticulous process to ensure that every product meets our stringent quality standards.

Quality control is a continuous and comprehensive effort at our mill. Before and after going through our moulder/planer, each board undergoes rigorous inspections. In fact, some boards are pulled from the production line even before they enter our profile machine, ensuring that only the finest materials make their way into our products.

Once our products are finished, they go through another round of scrutiny. We meticulously sort them into two categories: Number 1 and Number 2 grades. This detailed grading process allows us to offer our customers a choice of products that match their specific needs and budgets.

Our dedication to quality doesn’t end with the production process. When we load your purchase onto your vehicle or trailer, we perform a final inspection to confirm that it meets our exacting standards. We believe in delivering products that we are proud of and that you can trust.

At Mountain Milling Co., our rough-cut materials stand out for their remarkable consistency in both dimensions and appearance. Crafted primarily from eastern red cedar, our rough-cut lumber offers an exceptional combination of durability and rustic charm.

What truly sets our rough-cut materials apart is their stunning visual appeal. Most of our eastern red cedar rough-cut lumber consists of heartwood, with sapwood edges. This unique composition not only enhances the durability of the wood but also creates a captivating rustic appearance. The interplay of rich, reddish heartwood and lighter sapwood edges adds character and charm to any project.
