Why Aren’t You Open on Saturdays?
We get this question a lot—and we get it. Saturdays are when most people finally have time to shop, tackle that weekend DIY project, or swing by to pick up their Eastern Red Cedar order. Whether you’re in the middle of building a raised garden bed, finishing out a tongue and groove ceiling, or just looking for the perfect live edge slab for a furniture project, we understand how valuable your weekends are.
And as a family-run sawmill, we genuinely appreciate every person who chooses Mountain Milling Co. to supply the materials that help bring their homes, businesses, and backyards to life. We don’t take that trust lightly.
But the reason we’re closed on Saturdays is simple: we love our work—but we love our families more.
Faith, Family, and the Heart Behind Our Business
At Mountain Milling Co., we believe that no business success is worth sacrificing the people we love. Our team is made up of family—quite literally. We work together, we worship together, and we raise our children to understand the importance of hard work, honest living, and most of all, making time for what matters most.
Some Saturdays you’ll find us cheering from the sidelines at a kids’ basketball games, swim meets, and cheer competitions, or gathered around the dinner table for a meal that no one’s rushing through. Other weekends we’re grilling in the backyard, sitting in a deer stand, stacking firewood, planting new rows in the garden, or just catching our breath after a long week of planing cedar boards, bundling shiplap siding, or prepping custom rough cut orders.
Whatever it looks like, we’ve made a choice to guard that time—and it’s a choice we stand by.
Yes, It’s Inconvenient. But It’s Intentional.
We know that being closed on Saturdays might mean we lose out on a few sales. It might mean a customer chooses a national chain with weekend hours instead of picking up high-quality, Arkansas-milled Eastern Red Cedar from our yard.
And that’s okay.
We’re not trying to be the biggest. We’re trying to be the most faithful to what matters. For us, success looks like doing good, honest work—without compromising our values. It means crafting lumber that lasts for generations while still being present for the moments we’ll never get back.
So yes, our showroom and yard are closed on Saturdays—but not by accident. It’s an intentional decision, built into the foundation of how we run our business. We’ve chosen people over profit, and we don’t intend to change that.
We’ll Still Do What We Can to Help
That said—we’re not rigid or unreasonable. If you’ve placed an order and need to pick it up on a Saturday, and someone on our team happens to be available, we’ll gladly make arrangements. We just ask that you reach out ahead of time—give us a call during the week, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
Whether it’s a bundle of cedar tongue & groove, a garden bed kit for your backyard, or a stack of trim for your next build, we want to make your experience as smooth and personal as possible.
Building a Legacy, Not Just a Business
When you shop with Mountain Milling Co., you’re supporting more than a sawmill—you’re investing in a small-town family with a heart for craftsmanship, community, and building something meaningful.
Whether you’re covering your ceiling in our signature Eastern Red Cedar tongue and groove, accenting a wall with shiplap siding, or customizing furniture from our rough cut hardwoods and live edge slabs, we’re honored to play a small role in your story.
Because we’re not just creating lumber. We’re building a life. A family legacy. A business rooted in values we hope to pass down to our children—and maybe one day, theirs too.
Thanks for understanding why we’re not open on Saturdays. And thank you for letting us serve you in a way that stays true to who we are.
