For exterior builds, structural use, or rustic interiors, our rough cut Eastern Red Cedar is milled green and available in a variety of sizes. If your project requires kiln-dried cedar, we’re happy to fulfill that upon request.
Whether you’re sourcing hardwood for a custom table or cedar for a full porch buildout, our lumber is selected for quality, milled with care, and ready for your next handcrafted project.

What is Kiln-Dried Hardwood?
Kiln-dried hardwood is lumber that has been carefully dried in temperature-controlled kilns to reduce its moisture content. This process removes water more quickly and evenly than traditional air-drying, resulting in wood that is more stable, reliable, and ready for fine woodworking.
Compared to air-dried lumber, kiln-dried hardwood offers several key advantages:
Minimized Warping and Cracking
By removing excess moisture, kiln-drying helps prevent common issues like warping, cracking, and shrinkage—ensuring boards stay true to size and shape.
Greater Strength and Stability
Kiln-dried hardwoods are more structurally sound, making them ideal for cabinetry, flooring, furniture, and other precision applications.
Improved Workability
Dry, stable lumber is easier to saw, plane, sand, and glue—delivering smoother finishes and better results for builders of all skill levels.
Reduced Risk of Insects
The kiln-drying process helps eliminate moisture that attracts pests, reducing the chances of insect damage in your finished piece.

Frequent Questions
Planed lumber has already been surfaced by a planer, resulting in a smooth and consistent thickness. Rough cut lumber is delivered straight from the mill with its original, uneven saw marks. Planed lumber is easier to work with for beginners, while rough cut lumber offers more flexibility for shaping at the expense of requiring additional work.
Kiln-dried hardwoods are ideal for a wide range of projects due to their stability and strength. Common uses include furniture making, cabinetry, flooring, doors, trim work, musical instruments, and decorative elements.
While the initial cost of kiln-dried hardwood might be slightly higher, it offers several advantages that translate to long-term savings. The reduced risk of warping, cracking, and waste due to moisture content makes kiln-dried lumber a more reliable choice.
Red Oak is a popular choice for its affordability, strength, and beautiful grain pattern. It’s a versatile wood that can be stained or finished to achieve various design aesthetics.
Walnut is prized for its rich, dark color and exceptional workability. It’s ideal for high-end furniture pieces, cabinetry, and decorative elements where a luxurious look is desired.
